My Dad (AKA Papa) and Pauline made the long drive from Kansas to Texas for a wonderful visit this past weekend. It was an impromptu visit as Papa only had a few days to spare before corn harvest started, and we were so glad to have them! We were able to get out and about despite the 107 degree heat we've been having, and before the crazy wild fires all around Texas started. The 80 plus days of over 100 degree weather has finally broke, and we are now in the mid 90's. It's funny in that dropping about 10 degrees makes it feel like Fall outside. Let's hope it stays that way! Papa and Samuel took to each other right away and it was so great to finally get to introduce them. We made a visit to the Oasis, a very cool, Austin-y restaurant overlooking Lake Travis, and watched the sunset. And then of course out to the Salt Lick, for barque, which is always a must when any visitors come. Love those ribs and brisket, yumm-o!! Thank you guys for making the long drive and for such a lovely visit!
