| Awww, I just love his sweet face and how happy he is taking in his birthday cake. |
Our Sweet boy, Sam, turned 4 years old July 25th. As always, it is so unbelievable how the time is slipping by so quickly. I look at his baby pictures and ache to hold that tiny little baby boy, but at the same moment, I love the big boy he is turning into. He has the funniest sense of humor and A LOT of energy. He MUST run at least an hour each day if not more or else he is a grumpy mess. He is certainly a boy-boy, but at the same time he still loves to cuddle, and will randomly holler out, "Mama, hold you!!" His actual birthday was on Saturday, the day we were flying back from Colorado, so we waited to celebrate his birthday on Sunday. Unfortunately, he woke up with a fever and was sick, so we had to cancel his birthday party. He spent all day on the couch feeling badly, and watching Cars movies. It wasn't until evening that he was able to rally and eat some cake and open presents. His presents sat on the dining room table all day, untouched. So that indicates how yucky he was really feeling. Poor kiddo.
However, Aunt Verna had made birthday decorations while we were away in Colorado, and had an awesome banner and made the race track cake that she and he had picked out together. He likes to have input into his cake and what everyone else's cake should be too!

| Verna working diligently on his cake. All of us unsure if there was going to be a party since he woke up feeling so puny. There was no party, but there was amazing cake to eat, so not all was a fail. |
| There may not have been a party, but there were decorations and balloons! |
| Opening presents and little sister there to lend a hand |
| Thoughtful birthday card and $4 from Great-Grandma Regier |
| And then the birthday gift of the year...his very much requested remote controlled car. Thank you Aunt Anna and family! |
| Finished cake, pretty freaking fantastic! |

Mama and her boy-boy
Verna's birthday is the last one in July to celebrate. I was lucky enough to spend the day with her, and treating ourselves to massages and a nice girls lunch with a little bubbly. We have been so fortunate to have her living with us and just can't imagine what life was like before she was here. We celebrate Mother's Day and Father's Day, but we really need to have an Aunt Verna's Day because she does so much for our family and we count ourselves fortunate every day for her presence. So Happy Birthday Verna, you are so loved! |

| Cheers!! |

| Birthday presents, with Isla's help. |
| Verna's surprised face cracks me up. Sam is all over blowing out her candles. |
| There you go, do it together... |
| Isla is the forever helper. Whether it's opening presents or eating your food and cake, she is right there to assist. |
