Sam Turns Two Years Old!!

Verna did an amazing job at decorating the Elmo cake, she is very much the artist.
Sam continues to ask for Elmo cake and thoroughly enjoyed digging
into this one.
So July has been the month of birthdays. First Quinn's birthday was on July 21st, Odelia, the dog was July 22nd,  then Sam's on the 25th and Verna's on the 27th,. Then we celebrated Sam's birthday party on the 28th. So we had three different cakes throughout the week...it was a good week. For Quinn and Verna's birthday, we took an evening to go out to dinner and to a concert, which was great to have some grown up time and an evening out. Quinn's day was pretty relaxing, sleeping in, lemon waffles, a hike along the green belt and not having to do any dishes all day. Sam's birthday was on a Thursday, which I was off work and Quinn was able to take off the morning. It started with pancakes and Nutella (which he lovingly calls chocolate cake), which everyone should have on their birthday. Opening a few presents, new books which we all love and are glad for new books in the rotation, and then a morning trip to the park to play and ride on the train and an ice cream treat by 10:30am because it was already like 95 degrees outside, and then back to the park for more playing and then home for lunch and nap. What could be a better birthday for a 2 year old, seriously. And then Verna's birthday consisted of her having to study for a mid-term, yuck, but we did make it out to a nice dinner and then home again to prepare for Sam's party here at the house the next day. So she probably got a bit jiped when it comes to birthday fun, but it was a good week of celebration over all.

We had a great party at the house and were glad to have some many people make it over to celebrate with us. We are thankful for so many birthday's and beginnings to another year. Here are a few pictures from the week of birthday fun!

This was Quinn's annual chocolate birthday celebration cake.
Verna's coconut birthday cake
It's the Spa Bandit!! Sam picked this out especially for Aunt Verna.
It's a relaxing cooling mask, however he confiscated it and was proudly wearing
it for a good part of the morning.
Out to dinner for Verna's birthday. We had a little time to wait  for a table so we
checked out this fun antiqu-ie store.  However, we had to think better of it.
You can see Sam's delight at all the fun stuff to grab.
Sam's birthday morning at the park. It was such a lovely morning.
Pretty hot and sticky, time for a train ride.
Aunt Verna made this amazing balloon arch. I wasn't quite sure how this was going to work, but with Quinn's lung power to blow up all the balloons, she had this put together in about an hour. We actually just took it down two weeks later because it was so cool.
Heidi ,Gwennyth and John joined us for birthday fun.

Sweet Gwennyth and her pretty pink dress.
John loved this ball pit.
Eric rocking the tunnel and wearing it.
Granny Nancy and Andreas, our wonderful neighbors from our old house .
So glad they could make it, totally made our day.
Yup, this is a toddler sized inflatable jumpy. I never really knew they existed  and this was a huge hit. We actually had it for a week after the party and spent every evening playing in it. It was a sad day when we had to take it down while Sam was napping to avoid any serious sadness.
Leonard loving the tricycle, such a big cute guy.!

BALLOONS!
1-2-3 blow. Our sweet, sweet 2 year old boy.
"Ice cream here, cake there." That's how Daddy and Sam roll.
Jennifer and Vincent patiently awaiting cake.
Mmmmmm

"More!"
Kids table
Goof-ball Eric, such a comedian
Time for presents, such lovely and thoughtful gifts.

Little Leonard getting down with the guitar
Auntie Debbie and Ian
Super thoughtful hand knitted hats from our dear friend Sherry. One for Sam and one for the new baby.

Ian letting Sam ambush him with balloons.
On a mission. He's got his balloon, smart pad and Bob the Builder hat, what else could you need?!
Oh Ian, taking a rest in the ball pit.
Hummm, contemplation on his face.
End of the party and ready to nap...in his ball pit.
