Samuel loves Lemures

So excited to see these new creatures. The ironic thing is that the Lemures cage was placed right next to the Fossa cage. Fossa's are cat like, carnivorous animals, that prey on Lemures.  (We read the signs).  We thought it was a bit funny they would place these two animals so close together, considering that one likes to eat the other. So tempting....
We went to the Zoo the other weekend and were able to see some pretty interesting animals. This zoo we went to is way outside of Austin, outside Bastrop, and probably not one of the prettiest or fanciest zoos, but there were lots of animals, which totally fit Sam's criteria for a good time. Since the weather has been very oddly nice for January, we decided to take a picnic, which made for a perfect day. It was funny to watch Sam, and which animals he gravitated towards. On the top of his list were the Lemures, don't ask me why, all types of monkeys, goats and then the lion.

Ring tailed Lemures
He kept calling them Reo, which is our cats name. He actually calls
any furry quadruped, Reo, and he associates them as a cat.
Checking out the Prairie dog exhibit.
There were several Peacocks just roaming around. They were probably my favorite animal to watch.
So this albino turtle kind of creeped us out. We couldn't stop watching it.
I've seen several albino animals, but never a turtle.
Here's another creepy shot just in case you wanted more.
This little monkey guy made us laugh. He's passed out, taking a Sunday afternoon snooze.
Sam was very excited to pet the rabbit. He was finally able to make the connection
between the animals and pictures we read about in books, and to get to see and touch them for real.
Of all the things to look at and do, all he wants to do is play with the rocks and sticks. Little boys....
Sam, Mama and Mr. Camel.
Here are some non-zoo related pictures. I'm not sure if we posted any little truck pictures. But this is his new outside toy. He is obsessed with all things that have wheels or that fly. So here's his little blue
truck and a tiny little bed that Odelia barely fits in .
So happy to be outside! He's so funny. He can be such a crab inside the house sometimes, but get this kid outside, and he's happy as can be. So we are often outside, even by 8:30 in the morning some weekends, playing in the yard.
Quinn took this picture while they were on a hike. It makes me cry and smile all at the same time. Here is our baby, already walking on his own little path with his dog.
Pass the Kleenex...
